At 3:12 am Saturday, The Marion Fire Department responded to 457 E Fairground St for a working structure fire at a multi unit apartment complex. E23 was first on scene reporting smoke showing. 2 adults and one infant escaped prior to Fire Department arrival. An alert neighbor assisted by catching a 4 mo old infant that was dropped from a second floor window just prior to an adult jumping from the same window. This fire could have easily claimed 2 lives. Heavy smoke and fire damage throughout the apt. 12 Marion Fire Department firefighters responded with assistance from Marion Twp Fire for medical evaluation for the 3 occupants.
