Marion Police Officer Helps with Math Problem

When Lena Draper, a 10 year old at Heritage Elementary School was struggling with a math problem late one night, she decided to go online to look for help.  She sent a message to the Marion Police Department’s Facebook page.  The message read “I’m having trouble with my homework. Could you help me?”  Lieutenant B.J. Gruber wrote back and walked her through the equation.  LT. Gruber joked he could probably use some help next time a student asks him about homework.  He got one of the answers wrong. Lena’s mom Molly Draper told insideedition.com, she was amazed at how willing their local police department was to extend a helping hand, even if it wasn’t a matter of public safety.Lena said she got the idea form YouTube, where a first grader, called the police with a problem.
