Marion City Schools Superintendent Announces Resignation

(Marion, OH) On May 31, the Marion City School Board approved the notice of resignation provided by Superintendent Dr. Ron Iarussi, effective July 31, 2022, during a special session.

“During today's Special Board meeting, Dr. Iarussi informed the members of the Board of Education that the 2020-2021 school year would be his last year as the Superintendent of Marion City Schools,” said Board President Kelly Mackay. “On behalf of the board of education, we thank him for his leadership and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Dr. Iarussi has served as the Marion City Schools Superintendent since 2018 and led the district through a global pandemic as well as ushering in a number of initiatives such as the expansion of career readiness opportunities for Marion students and strong focus on the development of the Four Pillars – Leadership, Learning, Literacy and Legacy – which represent not only our vision for the future but our means for accomplishing that vision.

“It has been my honor and privilege to serve the students and staff as the Superintendent of Marion City Schools for the last four years,” said Dr. Iarussi. “I am immensely proud of all of the accomplishments we have made together, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for Marion City Schools. I am extremely grateful for all of the relationships that I have built with so many great leaders in this community, especially through the many organizations such as United Way, Rotary, Kiwanis, Marion CanDo, Marion Chamber of Commerce, Marion Technical College and many others.”

The board plans to appoint an interim superintendent soon and will then begin the formal process of selecting a new superintendent for the district.
