League of Women Voters Marion Will Not Hold 2021 Candidates Night Debate

After much deliberation concerning the extent of community spread of COVID in Marion, Ohio at this time, League of Women Voters of Marion (LWVM) has regretfully decided not to schedule a 2021 Candidates Night Debate. However, there are other sources of voter education information that have been provided by the League for this fall's 2021 Tuesday, November 2 Election Day.

Marion League's Voter Guide (VG), co-sponsored by the Marion Star, will be published and distributed to all Marion Star subscribers on Thursday, October 14. Also available to residents will be 1000 VG copies that will be distributed by League volunteers and also found at the Marion Public Library, the YMCA, and in other places around town.

The Voter Guide contains local contested candidates’ biographical information and responses to questions. The VG includes the following Marion City contested candidates: 1st Ward Council - Kai Meade (D) and Write -In candidate David Miller; 2nd Ward - Ayers Ratliff (D) and Pamela K. Larkin (R); 4th Ward - Dana Hanif-Booker (D) and Joshua Feliciano (R); 5th Ward - Karen S. Fosnaugh (R) and Tara Dyer (D); 6th Ward - Kathy Swanger (D) and Mike Neff (R); City Council at Large -Even Geyer (D), Aaron Rollins (R), Brett Cornelius (R), Mike Thomas (D), and Charles Arndt (Write-In); City Treasurer- Thomas A. Pannett (D) and Tommy T. Reese (R).

The Marion Township Trustees candidates include Lynn Thomas, Karen S. McCleary, and Ben Creasap.

For voters' convenience, a November 2021 Ballot Checklist is provided for use at the ballot box . Along with the candidate information, there is a list of Marion County's local levies and Board of Education candidates. Election procedures, hours for early voting and what ID to take to the polls is included. There is also a Precinct Map of Marion City.
