On August 12th, 2021 around 4:12 p.m., detectives from the Marion Police Department located a suspect in a string of recent crimes who was driving in the Fairpark neighborhood of the City of Marion. Marked cruisers attempted a traffic stop on the suspect, who was driving a red Ford F150, near the intersection of Jefferson St. and Wilson Ave. The suspect attempted to elude the police until the pursuit was terminated in the area of Spencer and E. Church.
Officers kept the suspect vehicle in sight while no longer pursuing it and observed him drive through a soybean field on Richland Road and later travel north on State Route 98.The suspect then went off road again and drove into a corn field north of the intersection of State Route 309 and State Route 98.The suspect drove through the corn and ultimately crashed into a ditch, injuring himself in the process. The suspect fled from the crash on foot, going further into the corn field.
With the invaluable assistance from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and a resident in the area, the suspect was located and arrested at 7:04 p.m .Nathan M. Jolley, age 32, suffered injuries in the crash and was transported to Marion General Hospital by a First Consolidated Emergency Squad. He was later transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus where he remains under the watch of Marion PD Officers.
Formal charges for felony failure to comply with order or signal of police officer are being sought and additional charges are expected relative to the theft of catalytic converters.
