Marion – Troopers from the Marion Post are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on June 13, 2021, at approximately 11:02 AM on Richland Pike (County Road 132) in Richland Township, Marion County.
The crash involved a 2013 Ford Fiesta, driven by Juan Carlos Lopez-Ortiz, age 32, of Marion, Ohio. Mr. Lopez-Ortiz was traveling northbound on Richland Pike. The Ford traveled off the east side of the roadway where it struck a mailbox and tree.
Mr. Lopez-Ortiz was transported from the scene by Fort Morrow EMS to the Marion General Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Mr. Lopez-Ortiz was not wearing a seatbelt.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Fort Morrow Fire Department and EMS, Pleasant Township Fire Department, and Ron’s Towing.
This crash remains under investigation.
