Marion Troopers Investigating a Fatal Crash

MARION – Troopers from the Marion Post are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on April 7, 2021 at approximately 4:08 pm on Somerlot Hoffman Road in Pleasant Township, Marion County.

The crash involved a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Devin M. Black, 23, of Marion, Ohio. The second vehicle involved was a 2017 Dodge Journey driven by Andrew D. Habbas, 35, of Marion, Ohio.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Somerlot Hoffman Road. The Dodge was westbound on Somerlot Hoffman Road turning left into a residential driveway when it was struck by the motorcycle.

Mr. Habbas sustained minor injuries as result of the crash. Mr. Black was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Marion County Coroner’s Office. Mr. Black was not wearing a helmet.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Pleasant Township Fire and EMS, Marion County Coroner’s Office and Precision Towing, The crash remains under investigation.
