Marion – Troopers from the Marion Post are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on October 21, 2020, at approximately 09:42 AM on State Route 309 east of mile post 25 in Claridon Township, Marion County.
The crash involved a 2010 GMC Acadia, driven by Marti Joe Strzelecki, age 74, of Marion, Ohio, and a 2021 Freightliner Tractor-Trailer, driven by Michael Anthony Boucher, age 63, of Painesville, Ohio. Preliminary investigation indicated that Mr. Boucher was traveling westbound on State Route 309. Mr. Strzelecki was traveling eastbound on State Route 309, drove left of the centerline into the westbound lane and struck the left side of the Freightliner.
Mr. Strzelecki was transported by First Consolidated Fire Department to Marion General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Mr. Boucher did not sustain any injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, First Consolidated Fire Department, Ohio Department of Transportation, and Ed’s 24 Hour Service.
This crash remains under investigation.
