At 4:46 am on Friday July 17th, Marion Police received a report of a shooting incident in the 300 block of Avondale Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located and identified two shooting victims.
Officers determined that an adult female sustained a gunshot wound that was not believed to be life-threatening. A teenage male was also shot, and his injuries are believed to be life threatening. The female was treated at Marion General/Ohio Health and the male victim was transported to Nationwide Childrens’ Hospital in Columbus.
MPD Officers remain on scene as of noon today. Investigators are following up on leads and this continues to be an active investigation. When a significant action is taken in this investigation, we will provide additional information to the public with an addendum to this news release.
