In an effort to assist the local community during coronavirus pandemic, the Buckeye Food Alliance (BFA), a student organization from The Ohio State University at Marion donated multiple cart loads of non-perishable food to the Salvation Army Food Pantry in Marion.
According to Ohio State Marion Mental Health Counselor and (BFA) Advisor, Leslie Beary the donation is part of Ohio State Marion’s “culture of caring,” which permeates the campus community.
“As we all navigate these unprecedented times, food pantries are experiencing a higher demand to feed those in need throughout our communities,” said Beary
Since Ohio State transitioned to virtual classes and services in March, due to COVID-19. Beary has been referring students who regularly use the Marion Campus Food Pantry to the Salvation Army Pantry.
“It’s the right thing to do.” said Beary. “We have food available and we have students and others in our community who need the food.
“It was an easy decision for our group to make,” she added.
“This is service learning at its best,” Beary said. “It is a great example of the culture of caring which is woven throughout all we do on the Marion campus”.
