PPE Donations Needed In Wyandot County! Here's How To Help!

The Wyandot County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is accepting donations of certain unopened medical supplies including masks, gowns and other personal protective equipment (PPE).

Local EMA Director Dale Risley said the donations will be distributed among first responders, Wyandot County Public Health and Wyandot Memorial Hospital. The community appeal for donations is in response to Vice President Mike Pence’s suggestion for Americans to contribute needed supplies during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Donations will be accepted weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Wyandot County EMA office, which is located within the EMS building at 401 North Warpole Street in Upper Sandusky. For safety purposes, donors will remain in their vehicles and phone the EMA office at 419-294-4916 when they are in the parking lot and ready for a staff member to retrieve their contribution.

Some of the items being accepted include:

Masks – N-95 masks, surgical masks and procedure mask with or without face shields

Medical or laboratory goggles and glasses

Medical or laboratory boot/shoe covers

Gowns – medical-grade protective gowns and isolation gowns

Nitrile exam and surgical gloves

Bouffant caps

Hand sanitizer that contains greater than 60% alcohol

Sanitizer wipes

All donations will be screened for appropriate use following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. Items not used by the local organizations will be donated elsewhere.

For large donations or if a receipt is requested, please phone the EMA office prior to delivery. Arrangements can also be made for pickup of large quantities. No food or perishable items will be accepted. For more information about donating to the local effort, contact Risley at 419-294-4916.
