The Marion City School District Board of Education approved a new three-year contract with the Marion Education Association during the regular monthly meeting July 8.
According to a press release, the new agreement between the district and its teachers is set to take effect August 1st and will continue through June 30, 2022. The MEA membership must ratify the agreement before it can take full effect.
The board also approved the student handbooks for the 2019-2020 school year and the purchase of two new buses to join the district’s fleet.
The partnership between the Marion City School District and City of Marion Department of Police will continue with the board’s approval of two contracts for School Resource Officers for the 2019-2020 school year. One officer will work with the elementary schools, while the other will be assigned to the district’s alternative schools.
