Patrol Investigates Injury Commercial Vehicle Crash In Delaware County

The Delaware Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 4:20 A.M. May 9, 2019, on Interstate 71 near mile post 131, in Berkshire Township, Delaware County.

Jennnifer A. Klyver of Sunbury, Ohio was driving a blue, 2004 Jeep Liberty southbound on Interstate 71 near mile post 131, and struck a deer in the roadway. Her vehicle became disabled in the center lane. Ahmad Asghari, age 39, of Cleveland, Ohio, was driving a white 2016 Volvo semi-truck and trailer southbound on Interstate 71 and struck the unoccupied Jeep. The drivers were evaluated at the scene by personnel from Berkshire Township EMS.

Two lanes of Interstate 71 were closed for approximately two hours while crews cleaned diesel fuel, and debris from the roadway.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by ODOT, Delaware County EMA, and Berkshire Township Fire and EMS.

The crash remains under investigation.
