City Of Marion's Departmental Closures For The Christmas Holiday

The following closings and adjusted hours for City Offices are being announced for the Christmas and New Year’s holiday weeks: 

Many departments will be utilizing vacation time on Monday, December 24 and Monday, December 31; therefore, it is highly encouraged that residents call to ensure the office relevant to their needs will be open. 

All offices in City Hall will be closed on Tuesday, December 25 in observance of the Christmas holiday and Tuesday, January 1 in observance of the New Year’s holiday.

Sanitation collection will not take place on Tuesday, December 25 or Tuesday, January 1. Residents with Tuesday sanitation service are asked to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 am on Wednesday, December 26 and Wednesday, January 2. Crews will collect both Tuesday and Wednesday’s refuse on each Wednesday. Sanitation crews will also begin collecting live Christmas trees on Wednesday, December 26 and continue tree collection through the month of January. Live Christmas trees should be placed at curbside on the resident’s trash collection day. All lights and decorations must be removed from the tree and the tree should NOT be wrapped in plastic.

Marion Area Transit will have buses in operation until 2:30 pm on Monday, December 24 and will then be closed on Tuesday, December 25 and Wednesday, December 26. 

Transit services will also be closed on Tuesday, January 1, 2019.• Marion Senior Center will be closed on Monday, December 24, Tuesday, December 25, Monday, December 31, and Tuesday, January 1. 

Programs, activities, and transportation will not be available through the Senior Center on these days.Necessary services including police and fire will operate as usual.
