Marion Police Report South Seffner Avenue Homicide

UPDATE! At approximately 1:45pm on January 21, 2021, Ziair E. Green turned himself over to police custody at the Marion Police Department and was subsequently transported to the Marion County Juvenile Detention Facility. Formal court proceedings will be forthcoming and there are no further details to release at this time.

On January 18, 2021 around 10:41 p.m., officers from the Marion Police Department responded to the 120 block of South Seffner Avenue for a reported shooting call. Upon their arrival, they found 43-year-old Ricco D. McGhee who had been shot and seriously injured. McGhee was transported to Marion General Hospital where he died from his injury.

The Marion Police Department, with the assistance of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, is actively investigating this homicide.

There has been a warrant issued for seventeen-year-old Ziair E. Green of 126 S. Seffner Avenue for murder. Green may still be armed and the public should use caution if he is seen. If anyone knows the whereabouts of Mr. Green, they are encouraged to call 911 and do not try to apprehend him yourself.
