The Ohio Department of Education announced this week that it has cleared Marion City Schools in a statewide investigation into alleged data rigging.

The education department investigated eight school districts identified by the state auditor as having "evidence of scrubbing" in its 2010-2011 attendance data. ODE stated in a press release on Monday that Marion City Schools had accurately reported its Education Management Information System data. The press release showed that no students were improperly withdrawn

The investigation into Marion City Schools is now closed, but ODE stated it would refer the district to the professional conduct office for further review.

The state had requested more information from the school district in August. School officials fully cooperated with the request.
