Firefighters responded on Sunday to a large fire at a historic building in downtown Marion on the 100-block of South Main Street around noon.

The building was home to several businesses, including Wild Bill’s.  It also had five apartments located above the businesses.

There were people in the building when the fire started, everyone escaped without harm.

Firefighters fought the flames for nearly 8 hours. 


The Red Cross is assisting the occupants of the apartments with finding temporary housing.

A full investigation of the property will begin today.
